Locking, Blocking, Latching, OH MY!

Daniel Janik

Have you run into problems with blocking or deadlocks? Are your transactions stepping on each other? Do you know what the difference between a latch and a lock is? Is your design optimal? This session is a hands-on, technical dive into SQL Server's isolation levels and locking mechanics. Whether you're a developer or DBA this session is for you. We will cover the various issues that a developer or DBA may run into and how to resolve them. Expect this session to be interactive, so come prepared.

About Daniel:
Daniel Janik has been supporting SQL Server for 18 years and is also a former "Microsoftee". His time at Microsoft Corporation was spent supporting SQL Server as a Senior Premier Field Engineer (PFE). During his 6 years as a PFE, he supported over 275 different clients with both reactive and proactive database needs. Daniel has presented at many community events and at SQL Saturday.
